They probably mean Smallings 'red card' - you know that one where we were 3 nil up, there were about 6 minutes left & there were 2 defenders covering about a yard away from the incident.
Fergie bribing the FA again

Nice to see Whelan's managers keep up the good tradition of rolling over and giving Utd the points.

it wasn't a foul, the forward went down because he realised the ball had got away from him. the ref bottled it, though, if he called a foul he should have shown a red, whatever the score/minute.

rafael & Evans were both coming around from both sides of the incident..both about a yard away. There's no way he was clear through on goal.
If it was a foul (& I agree he took a tumble) then it was a yellow because of the 2 covering defenders.

they were well behind the pair of them and off to the side. smalling was last man by a yard at least.

The lino flagged it, so the ref gave the foul

The replay I saw, Smalling had both arms completely around him in a firm grip. He didn't pull him down, tho. That was a dive. But still a foul.

When will people understand last man does not mean a red card?!

It's only a red when a clear goal scoring opportunity is denied, in this case it very clearly wasn't. Two defenders either side, ball 10 yards ahead of him and De Gea would comfortably have claimed the ball before him.

Not hard to understand.

It's pretty dire when we are hoping villa beat Swansea after WBA lose to help us claw our way into 7th/8th place.

Hopefully next year we can get back to 'normal'.
Erm that is normal for them ffs

But they always bottle it against us, so i'd say it's a par decision.

How many league games did Liverpool win in calendar year 2012?

We won 6 from Dec 1 to today.

he was running through with only the keeper to beat and the ref decided that smalling had impeded him (slowing his run, letting the ball get away from him). of course that's denying a clear goalscoring opportunity.

i don't think it was a foul, just normal acceptable physical battling for the ball, but if the ref decided it was then it should have been a red.

Not just the FA who are corrupt, Whelan must tell his teams not to try against them

Except in the one game that ever really mattered

I still reckon Fergie £#%&!ing threw it, giving Martinez and Wigan a better chance of staying up, thinking he had plenty of points in the bag and a win against Everton was a foregone conclusion.

clear foul, but clearly wasn't going to be first to the ball either, so FK and yellow card is correct. De Gea's reading of the game saved Smalling.
