diaby and my whole list of young talent would cost the same as either of these chumps.

For someone who's only been able to play 1 in 3 games (somebody correct me on this if I'm wrong) because of the terms of the loan, then turning in decent performances whilst playing in your first season abroad at 20(?) years old, I'd say he's well on course to cover himself in glory one day.

It ain't gonna happen at Portsmouth is it ?

If you could guarentee that Mascherano turns in decent performances for United then that's a different matter, I'm skeptical now, is all I'm saying.

No, I think the condition of the loan is that if he plays 3 games in a row, Portsmouth have to sign him for £12m.

From what I've seen of him, he's not been that much more impressive than Masherano has in his handful of appearances for West Ham. He's certainly not looked worth £12m. Take into account the fact that we've already seen Mascherano put in superb performances at the highest level in the World Cup, then I'd definitely put him above Fernandes. Just a shame about the circus that comes with him.

Thats the one, I think I got a bit mixed up, it averages out that he's actually played 1 in 3.

Mascherano > Fernandes ? On their best days, then I'll agree wholeheartedly, but what was the point in buying Carrick if United liked the look of Mascherano in the first place ?

NO i £#%&!ING AM NOT.....

the reason i suggest fernandes is he can be bought out right where as masc****** has a cloud of dodgyness around him...

but another point is if liverpool can sign mas****** why cant we???

i remember us churning out the united dont do loans rule but laarson to me is the weirdest loan deal going....

surely we could bring in the argentinian as in my "stupid" opinion we will need a midfielder like him more in the next 5 months than we will need this welsh defender....

why are we even fighting for the lad....

heinze is staying until the end of the season why not let the lad run his contract down. he knows we are interested....

and where are those nigerians we signed a month ago...
the 18 year olds.

because they're completely different players?

Mascherano being a defensive midfielder of the kind we've been banging on about for ages, one who can break up opposition play and win the ball; while Carrick's job principally involves possession and passing.

I don't really see Mascherano and Carrick as similar kinds of players at all, even though they've both been bracketed as 'defensive midfielders'. Carrick's strengths are his passing and vision. Mascherano is just excellent defensively, brilliant work-rate and does a great job of protecting the back four. I wouldn't expect him to be pinging about 50-yard passes any time soon.

Exactly - what I'm saying is I don't want Carrick as a replacement for Scholes, which would be the only other position he could play if Mascherano was at United.

Isn't Mascherano joining Liverpool on loan? We don't need to get involved with MSI.

If it was a permanent deal then we should be in for him, but I don't think it is.

Fernandes is also half owned by a company fronted by Pini Zahavi, possibly MSI also.

Both players, in my opinion, have the potential to be better than Hargreaves (Mascherano probably already is) but we don't need to be getting involved in these kind of loan/half ownership deals.

very good point. my point is that the fee for hargreaves in going to be around 17m

imo we can get either player bought outright for less than £15m.

hargreaves imo is a just a hardworker.
a polished phill neville where as these two lads are specialists in their positions.

Got to agree with you there. Realistically Hargreaves is worth a punt at 10max, and we all know that isn't going to happen.

Munich aren't selling Hargreaves now or in the Summer. This is the second window we've been pissing around trying to sign a player who Munich won't release. Why? Because we know they won't but at least they're trying, right?

We don't have the kind of funds anymore to spend outright. Carrick only came AFTER the Mikel and Ruud transfers. We haven't even signed that Polish keeper from West Brom yet. Hope to god he's £#%&!ed off but no doubt he'll get a contract come the Summer.

And Vio's right re Hargreaves. He's an expensive hardworker. Munich are bending us over a barrel. If we somehow come up with the 20million+ they want in the Summer (bye bye Rio or Ronnie to pay for that one) they'll be £#%&!ing wetting themselves.

For that money we could buy Makoun and Bodmer.

Mascherano cannot be bought outright - MSI aren't letting him go.

I'm not sure about this. When has a player ever remained at a club for two seasons against his will? If he kicks up enough of a fuss they'll be forced to sell him. It should be a dream scenario for us to be interested in a player that wants to play for us but somehow, yet again the United transfer dealing team are completely £#%&!ing everything up. What the hell is wrong with the @#%&!s that do our transfers?!

Seriously...can anyone tell me how we manage to £#%&! up all our transfer dealings both in and out of the club. Get ripped off when we buy, get £#%&!ed over when we sell.

If Phil Neville played for Portsmouth he would have been sold for 8 million.

WHY ARE MANCHESTER UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB EMPLOYING INEPT PEOPLE TO DO BUSINESS?!
