It's the national anthem of the club that pay his wages. If he doesn't like it he should join a different league.

But when you turn your back that is disrespectful. Is it acceptable when fans boo the oppositions national anthem at Wembley? Would it be acceptable for the Irish national team to all turn their backs while god save the Queen was playing if they played against england?

We can all get very irate when some Islamic preacher stands on the streets of London and spouts hatred about England, we react with statements like 'kick him out the country' or 'if he don't like it here £#%&! off back to his own country'

This lad happily draws a wage every week in England, happily lives and raises his kids (if he has any) in England but is then disrespectful.

Yeah he may have good reason to not like England or the English, but if these are his true feelings then he should live by them 100% and not be such a hypocrite.

He didn't 'turn his back' on the national anthem though.

The teams walked out, lined up, and turned to face where the flags hung.
So he didn't join in with the UK national anthem or turn to face the Union Jack

Did he face the American flag during their anthem?

Edit - he did turn around initially, but turned back when he realised it was the national anthem about to be played.
