Doubt it.

The Froggies invaded in 1066 and we had french (plantagenet) kings until the welsh took over nearly 400 years later... england speaks neither french nor welsh, not even scots, who came after the taffs, then we had the dutch and finally the krauts... but england still speaks english... well some form of it anyway, it's more an international language nowadays with many regional dialects... not sure what my point is now...

Hock / Hawk

hock - leave as a guarantee in return for money; "pawn your grandfather's gold watch"
pawn, soak
commerce, commercialism, mercantilism - transactions (sales and purchases) having the objective of supplying commodities (goods and services)
consign, charge - give over to another for care or safekeeping; "consign your baggage"

----------------

I've enriched, saved and bettered mine and countless other people's lives I'm happy with my choices.

It had nothing to do with the queen or for my country an island I was spewed out on due to timings and luck.

It's a famous saying, I'm sure our Nazi overlords would've quite accommodating considering.

Can totally understand him not wearing a poppy, and taking a stance against it. Anyone who can't understand his reasoning is a bit simple.

If he'd turned his back on the anthem (he didn't), that would be completely poor form. Forget the lyrics, it's still something likely to insult some his supporters, team-mates, friends and neighbours etc. If you're happy with living here and enjoying all the perks that brings, a level of respect is needed.

Any people who have a problem with the English though should £#%&! off and support another team. Manchester United are English

Forget the lyrics ?

That's the whole point....if, like other national anthems, the words were about the country then he might show respect.....but it's about the mother of the commander in chief of a British army regiment who murdered innocent civilians from the estate where he grew up

He did the right thing
