Question Why are United on Sky tonight?

Shewerly Spurs v Chelsea is a more attractive game?

For the same reason United - Lyon was put on ahead of Milan - Arsenal.

The TV people rely on advertising revenue, which is dictated by viewing figures.

United are the best supported team in the land, thus Sky will get more money for showing United than they would for showing Spurs - Chelsea.

At least that is my understanding of how it all works.

I s'pose, just think it's a bit more of a exciting fixture than us playing a bunch of inbred @#%&!s who just punt it up in the air.

I think early season they show the rubbish games to get the quota up, as every side needs to be on Sky a certain number of times in order to justify their share of the TV money.

If they get the Bolton - Derby games out of the way in October, at the expense of seemingly more attractive games, they can show United constantly from February through till May when it actually matters.

Fair enough then. Why didn't someone say earlier, instead of coming up with a load of drivel about finances and viewing figures.

I'm glad they're showing United. Don't see the problem infact.

spurs the only team of 4 with nothing to play for...maybe, that and the united fan draw. i'm happy anyway as no united for a month recovering from a knee op, so i'm joining the armchair fans brigade 2 nite.

the game was supposed to have been shown on sky the other week if united weren't in the fa cup. because they were its just simply been re-arranged.

It's obvious why we're on - it's going to be a veritable goal-fest of a game with extremely high quality skills never before seen in the Premiership on display.

Tonights game was due to be on tv on the weekend of our last fa cup game. That's why this one is on tv.

It's just been moved that's all.

Also, United are top of the league and Bolton are fighting to stay up...only one team in the Chelsea game have something to play for.

If the love of the game doesn't count anymore for the Spurs players, then surely the capacity gate and the tens of thousands of pounds they earn a week will...

*weep*
