This worries me greatly, are we so weak now in the transfer market. Pathetic, not that I'm blaming Fergie.
No other manager would have been able to get us to this position considering the way we weakened our squad and our huge injuries thru the season.

Great stuff from Fergie and as usual spot on.

I wish all football journalists would just hurry up and die tbh.

So the Glazers plan of repaying £700M of debt is based on the continued health, motivation and ability of a 69 year old man. When SAF goes it really will be exciting times. Do you think we'll fall further than Leeds did?

That comment about losing him after the world cup isn't necessarily bad, he probably just means right now he's not on many peoples radar, where as if he had a good world cup, he'd probably have the choice of a few spanish clubs, and if you're a young mexican guy, you're more than likely to head to Spain where the weathers good, than all the way to Manchester.

Yes, cheif football writer for the BBC on the live updates said it was our 3rd defeat in a row....

Also, i am confused as i thought they had revenge for 1999 in 2001 when they knocked us out? How can you get revenge twice, hardly seems fair.

But come, let us ignore the breathtaking hypocrisy of a manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, whose team perpetrated the finest massed, bulging-veined referee harangues of all time, with Andy D’Urso their victim in January 2000. Let us keep our minds on those naughty referees

It quite simple really. If Ferguson was not as succesful as he has been the all these ABUs would not be around. The ABUs are the typical tabloid readers that celebrate the losers and "dis" the winners.
They love Eddie "the eagle" Edwards or Chiko"What time is it", or the countless "Z List" losers that appear on I'm a celebrity get me out of here.
They hate winners like Fergy or Morhino, they cant stand that someone is doing better than them or their team and the bitterness eats away at thier insides. This is a very recent English trait and it is ugly. The Yanks, French, Italians, Aussie etc all celibarte their heros, be it Zidane or Sean White, Tiger woods or Michael Phelps. Their various indiscretions go ignored as intelligent people dont want their heros to be perfect, they know that we all have our vices and our bad sides but they rightly go ignored and they celebrate the genius.
George Best wouldn't stand a chance today, he would have been totally crucified by the losers on this thread, forget about the fact he could do things normal people could only dream about, lets focus on his demons and make him pay for i

Here's a great article from the Daily star, and from Paul Merson too!

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/...lex-Ferguson/?

THERE’S no doubt about it in my mind that Manchester United have to spend heavily in the summer.

They need to buy some players big time.

First of all, Sir Alex Ferguson needs to replace Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes – and that will be easier said than done.

Where can you find replacements for players like that? They are all one-offs.

And secondly, what their Champions League exit against Bayern Munich showed was just how much they miss a fully-fit Wayne Rooney – and also how much they miss Cristiano Ronaldo.

People will say that United have done well without Ronaldo, but they really miss the Portugal superstar in the big games.

Had Ronaldo been playing on Wednesday night, United would have won that game hands down.

When push comes to shove and when the big boys come to town, United miss their former golden boy.

I think thats a load of @#%&! shit to be honest, don't know how Ronaldo would have made anything different in that game.

Yet Wengers Baby's still get off with it?

I don't think we truely know the effects of our club the day that man retires both on and off the pitch.

2 things about that which still irk me to this day.

1) it was never a penalty, so infact our players were right to be pissed off. Even if they did go over the top with the protests.

2) in the reverse fixture later in the season, we scored a legitimate goal which the boro players thought was offside. They all went mental at the lino the same way we did at old trafford. £#%&! all was said.

Good on Fergie for putting the press in their place. The vast majority have inflated opinions of themselves anyway.

Every time you think the media in this country can't sink any lower, they prove you wrong, without fail

Some of the original reports of Wednesday were actually not that far from the truth - ie that we were blatantly robbed (or "Robben-ed" as the tabloids preferred it) - but it didn't take long for these accounts from people who were actually there to be flushed down the memory hole and replaced by the collective "wisdom" of football hackdom as described above

In particular, justifying Bayern's @#%&!ishness re the Rafael sending off by - yet again - bringing up an incident that happened TEN YEARS AGO (which several "pundits" did) goes beyond simply being biased or ABU. It indicates a deep, pathological malaise which one poster referred to above - the desire in this country to see our top achievers fail at almost any cost.

As also pointed out, in no other country would the exit of the last home team from the top European competition be celebrated

Seems bang on the money as ever from Ferguson as far as the press goes.

He's exaggerating the quality of United's performance though. For a start off bayern could easily have had 3 themselves in that 1st half. Secondly, we played with a passenger from about 20 minutes onwards (when Rooney did his ankle again, anyhoo).

If Bayern are one of the worst teams ever to knock us out we must be pretty £#%&!ing shit ourselves, considering that only a string a saves and a superb overall performance from VDS kept us in the tie in Munich.

Incidentally when people write the history of United v Bayern they always ignore the last ditch equalisers Munich got in the group games of both 1998/99 and of 2001/02 for some reason. Bit daft really.

He did a brilliant job away to Roma in 07 when we went down to 10 men. He was a great outlet to take pressure off us defensively, especially that run that led to our then possibly vital () away goal.

we'll be able to judge the effect losing Ronaldo had properly in a few week's time.

bit harsh to put the bayern game down to not having Ronaldo though, when really we'd have probably got through it if Ferguson had done the right thing with Rooney - not start him, certainly not start him on his own, and definitely not leave him on as a £#%&!ing passenger. imo, of course.

And, 3) Fergie came out straight after the game and chastised the players, something he never does publicly, said it was completely unacceptable and that it won't happen again. And as the press continuously recall that particular incident as evidence of United bullying referees, you would have to say he was true to his word.

The press, l £#%&!ing shit 'em.

Yep. Ask an ABU to name another one of those incidents and watch their brain explode in confusion.
