agreed. we need jones - smalling needs jones. blind as the libero

since we're kissing smalling's dumb ass right now i notice he seems to be getting better at turning out of a challenge with the ball as well, and he's as good as there is in the league at running an attacker off the ball down the channels...

Clearly a wum.

Anyway if somehow he does stay on (doubtful), that extra year comes (because he's £#%&!ing off next summer) and it's summer 2017 where the football has been shite, big players want out etc.

- Guardiola 1 year into City.
- Klopp 18 months into the Scousers.
- Poch still in charge of Spurs.
- Ancelotti 1 year into Bayern.
- Simeone still at Atleti
- Allegri at Juve
- Conte 1 year into Chelsea (probably sacked)
- Mourinho elsewhere.

Who would take over the job? Arsenal would be looking aswell.

well assuming we couldn't tempt any of those 8 you mention i imagine we'd have to dive in balls deep and select one of the other million managers in the world.

Half of the current clamour for LvG to go stems from the fact Mourinho is available, and those wanting LvG out are shit scared Jose will go elsewhere. Just pure, stinking fear the whole 'LvG out' campaign ramped up several notches when Mourinho got binned, and everything and anything even remotely positive wrt United has been glossed over, ignored or played down ever since.

And for Mourinho ffs.

Classic straw man
I would say most if not all stem from the shit being served up every week and the lack of any progress

Not sure that's true tbh, the complaints about lack of progress began well before December, some of the outers are fixated on Mourinho being available as a saviour but the football we play would still be shite to watch whether Mourinho was a available or not People have been pointing out how dull we are since early season, I think everyone expected us to look the real deal this season or at least a boatload closer to it, instead we look as poor as last season pretty much,

a comment on the football yes, a comment on progress, no.

you say there's no progress but clearly there is. since xmas, a few blips aside, united set a consistent level and have been slowly progressing from there. we are in the cup final and currently on a run of form better than anything since we got knocked out of the CL in fergie's last season.

We've been a bit better since xmas but nothing to get giddy about. Find it hard to forgive getting schooled by an utterly ordinary Liverpool side in Europe

And it's also damning how few chances we create, even against dross like Norwich.

The real turning point (or salvage point) we're the wins over city and arsenal and Rashfords emergence as a player

I love Louis and if he gets 4th and the cup it'd be harsh to sack him. But I don't see much progress in the performances themselves, we are still stale and too cautious in attack

If we finally had ourselves sorted I think LvG would be minded to stay. Long way off that kind of talk now though

Throb praising Smalling. What a time to be alive.

Grudging, qualified and with an undertone of derision but still, the sun is out, season nearly over, joy is abundant.
