Football Debut seasons.

As debut seasons go, who's have you enjoyed the most?

Have to go with this beautiful bastard:

We've been utterly spoiled, mind, with the likes of:

Eric
RvN
Rooney
Ronaldo (pure excitement of knowing what was coming)
Bruno
Keane etc

Pick your own though.

Ruuds finishing was second to none. Incredible. RvP's technique was unreal.

Buzzed off Dwight Yorke because my expectations weren't that high and he was amazing.

Iirc Tevez scored his first goal against Chelsea (re-taken corner that we scored from twice?) after something of a drought and then had an incredible knack of scoring key goals. His performance in the second leg of the Barca semi is one of my all-time favourite United player showings

Yorke and Van Persie were both so much stronger on the ball and with their back to goal then I realised. Van Persie especially was flawless his first 4-5 months, made defenders look like little boys the way he'd hold them off.

Going to throw an outside shout in, Martial. I thought we'd struggle to hold onto him more than 3 seasons

Vidic's first full season was sensational too.

Its got to be Van Persie for me though, he made me buzz for every match.

It’s got to be Eric for me - the way he transformed us from perennial also rans into the finished article was amazing.

The man was born to play for United and he set the standards of the modern era Utd.

Eric obvs, but Yorke a great shout

Not a season so feel free to bad rep but terry Cooke debut (Bolton at home) felt like we had another world class youngster arrived

Van Der Sar. Having to put with up average or outright shit goalkeepers for about 6 years before we finally got a proper one in. Didn't win the league his debut season but the foundations were laid for what was to come.

Yorke was incredible tbf. Shame he couldn't keep that level up. Yorke generally delivered in the biggest games that season especially knock out games. Which put him ahead of the likes of Van Persie for me. Maybe key moments define it. RVP missing that chance against Madrid, whereas Yorke buried the big moments

Goals against Bayern, Barca, Inter and Juve in Europe.

Liverpool and Chelsea in the FA Cup.

29 goals and 19 assists. And it wasn't just his output, his general level of performance was outstanding.

Ruud and Eric other honourable mentions.

Yorke hit the ground running and I won’t ever forget the contribution he made in 99

An absolutely inspired signing

Eric easily in the same bracket - a literal game changer for us as a club

I was impressed with Stam too for different reasons - but he was a colossus for us

Felt the same after Guiliano Maiorana's debut.

Denis the King.

Almost single handedly dragged United out of the Munich despair

Other than, Eric. Nqat.

Save for a certain high profile match, where he needed Teddy and Ole to bail him out
