Chelsea, FFP and the Premier League.
So Chelsea's parent company Clear Lake is Saudi backed, so that's where the unlimited funds are allegedly coming from. But either way, isn't it absolutely abundantly clear to everyone that there's no way they're complying with FFP? Despite the 7 and 8 year contracts, there's just no way, is there?
Funny what happened to Liverpool today, NQAT but the wider implications are that Chelsea don't give a £#%&! and its not on. With the PL not even addressing the 116 charges against City, what's your opinion on Chelsea? |

We'll see what happens but there's something very off about their hyper investment since this yank took over. |

They’re probably still on the honeymoon period where they don’t have to report much of this and nobody is really looking at them. Let’s see what happens when they have to do their taxes. Some of those city charges go back to 2018. It’s taken this long for it to come to light. |

The amount of dollar being splashed about is shocking. I’m enjoying non-league football more and more these days. |

If you go off Transfermarkt, they are currently in profit for this summer (outstanding potential deals for Caceido / Lavia).
The massive outlier is obviously last season. If you go back as far as 19/20 - Utd's net spend is higher by 185m. They can probably offset a fair bit of by their approach to selling their youth players which generates good income and helps massively in regards to FFP accounting. Also helps if your owner invests some money too tbf. City are adopting measures used by Chelsea in regards to selling their youth players. They both have very strong sides, often with players stockpiled. But they make decisions on them at the right times and can sell them for decent money. Their youth sides appear to be a function of generating revenue and if any of them actually make it, then it is a bonus - but maybe not the overarching objective. At Utd, the approach has never appeared that way - it has been about getting first team players. We often keep some of them far too long in the hope that they will eventually make the step up - Chelsea and City would have sold the likes of Tuanzebe and Henderson a few seasons ago and made good money off both. One ended up leaving on a free and the other we are still struggling to get rid of. We need to find a balance, as it hinders our ability in the transfer market. It'll be interesting to see if this changes if / when we get new owners. Wouldn't surprise me if we see far more money thrown at kids to bring into the academy. |

Verbatim from a mate
My colleagues were talking to Chelsea last week about some dodgy sounding stuff. Todd boehly was trying to set up a weird shell company to come in as the main shirt sponsor but it got delayed due to concerns about it being a scam to pump more money into the club and get around financial fair play. The company didn't even have a website until a couple weeks ago, doesn't appear to have paid tax anywhere and was looking to pay 25 percent more a year than the previous sponsor |

I mean we are basically at the stage now where it's an open secret that you can basically do what you want in terms of FFP. When the PL do the square root of £#%&! all re city and their charges, it'll essentially be the final nail(s) in the coffin of the game. These are the people that decided newcastles and chelseas owners are perfectly acceptable. The rules and regulations are a mirage if you've got enough money to chuck at the right people in power. So ever was it. |
