Two of Europe's strongest teams meeting in the second round isn't good for the tournament though.

You never know, it's cup football. We could win, but seeing us desperately wasting time by keeping the ball in the corner against Slovenia (when a second goal would have given us the easier route in the competition ) wouldn't exactly get the Germans changing their underwear.

Indeed. The first block was well done but the fact he'd been turned inside out by one of europe's lesser lights was far more telling
