the idea that bbc impartiality should go beyond news and current affairs is farcical anyway, but he wasn't even on the beeb.

I’m going against the grain here. He knows the rules. He is paid an extraordinary amount of money. Impartiality works both ways. He needs to decide if he wants to be a sports presenter or a politician.

No he doesn't. He can say what he likes as a private individual, so long as it is legal, which this was and what's more it was also completely true. This is just another attempt by an increasingly desperate tory party to shut down public dissent of their shit House policies.

In which case he has to accept that if he breaks his employers’ rules (and please don’t start an argument based on employee status) then his employer no longer has to employ him. Pretty much your argument about Churches being compelled to marry anyone that wants to be married …

How was he being impartial?

He was just making a comment on something, and he was entirely factually correct in what he said as well.
