Wasn't it united £#%&!ing about with the fee? Offering something, then changing to a lower amount. Or maybe it was his contract..whatever it was, it was united taking too long.

Yeah. I was always a big fan of his at Celta. Surprised that he never moved to a bigger club. EU passport and everything.

Didn't realise he's 29 now. That ship has probably sailed. Shame.

Some blasts from the past on this thread.

What's Joaquin up to these days? Still eating too much, the chubby looking £#%&!er.

Veloso for me would be a complete waste of money. A bit of a pointless signing considering what else needs to be added.

I think we couldn't get rid of someone at the time, and couldn't afford the fee. Might have been Smith, but I'm not 100% on that.

From what I can remember Senna ws going into the last year of his contract so we only wanted to pay 3.5mill they wanted 5 we said no, Senna signed a new contract then 2 weeks later snapped his knee ligaments.

Re: Joaquin he can be seen falling over in a Robben esq fashion these days in a comically based Valencia side in fact I think I saw him play through the middle in a 4 3 3 a while ago.

With regards to the original thread, got to be %@#$&!s surely, Giggs Park Ronaldo Nani Moutinho Valencia all compteing for the wide postions, (Moutinho is tiny would be killed played in the middle of a 4) and Hargreaves Scholes Carrick Anderson Fletcher Palacios and Veloso competing for 2 midfield roles
Unless
Carrick Veloso
Nani...Moutinho....Valencia
.....Ronaldo.....

With Anderson, Rooney, Tevez, Valencia, Hargreaves, Palacios, Scholes making up thje 7 subs.

£#%&! me it's a Legendary SAF wet dream

I wouldn't see the benefit in signing any one of those four players.

Benzema is in it also. The MEN is so far from the know these days though, they haven't got a clue. Fergie doesn't give them anything.

It doesn't matter who we sign, because according to the Daily Star, in the summer, Avram Grant is going to sign Messi and Kaka.

Maxi Lopez?

Most certainly is one of the most ridiculous stories I've seen for some time.

Hargreaves, Carrick, Ronaldo, Scholes, Anderson, Giggs, Nani, Fletcher, Park, Moutinho, Veloso, Valencia, Palacio.

Rooney, Tevez, Saha

You can see the logic really. Every balanced squad should have 13 midfielders to compliment their 2 and a half strikers.

Scholes and giggs will be retiring soon and i don't think fletch or Park will be around for much longer either.

United v Liverpool next season will be like spain v portugal.
