The team, for the record:

Schmeichel
Parker
Neville G
Pallister
Irwin
Neville P
Sharpe
Butt
Keane
McClair
Scholes

Beckham and O'Kane came on. Not even sure what formation that was, presume McClair and Scholes up front, Phil Neville at RM?

It was tweaked during the game between 3, 4 and 5 at the back iirc

Ferguson used various tactics throughout the season, going 3 at the back at Anfiled for example because we were getting out-fought. Cole was hooked and Giggs pushed on. Should have nicked - stolen - a draw out of that but ended up letting in a late 2nd

Let me guess, with four in midfield and....1 up front?

It's probably on this but for £14.99 it might not be worth the risk

Just looked at 95-96 review and it's not

Phil Neville mentions it but they don't show the original clip.

I can remember it, but probably from it being repeated on telly. Going on about how selling three top players and not replacing them was gonna cost us. Must've been the first of many times that the media have said it's the end of Fergie, since 1990 obviously. Many have tried, many have failed, and one silly @#%&! has just come back to try again

To Hansen's credit, he's never hid from that quote. I've seen him own up to it a few times and admit how wrong he was.

That teams springboard to success was Ewood park 3rd or 4th game in. Confidence to carry the opening months of the season.

I still am not quite sure how we slipped 14 pts behind Newcastle or something.

Beating them on boxing day at OT was £#%&!ing class.

Hansen is always very fair on us and clearly has a lot of respect for Utd.

He's always embraced that quote and laughed at himself about it too.

He was United mad before he joined the dippers, he said in his book he was the only person on the Liverpool coach who wanted Liverpool to lose the 77 cup final I think one of his ex team mates once mentioned something about him having quite a lot of memoribilia or programmes from the 50's as well.

Has there ever been a more charismatic footballer than Eric? Maradona is the only alternative I can think of and he doesn't exactly have Cantona's sense of gravitas

There's a video on youtube of him laughing with United fans about it in a car park whilst signing autographs. He must be sick of hearing it but still laughs it off, fair play.

We had a shite period in the run-in to Christmas, culminating in a horrible defeat at Leeds - at that point the team looked £#%&!ed. There was lots of doom to go round when Newcastle came to visit - people never learn do they?? Our recovery started then, we lost 4-1 at Spurs on New Year's Day but that was just a blip

Agree about the Blackburn game - we had beaten West Ham and Wimbledon before that, but winning at the defending champions surprised everybody (maybe even SAF himself)
