Pretty sure they agree a fee with the buying club, then the player leaves.

57 Mil for him this summe is shit though tbf. You’re paying that for substitute right backs virtually. All comes out of the Greizzy dough too.

Amazing that the fee they get for Costa is almost exactly the initial fee they paid for Morata. Quite soon after Athletico very publicly stated they couldn't afford anything like the asking price. All of a sudden they have the extra cash to pay up front. Stinks of Chelsea book cooking to dodge FFP. Just like PSG suddenly paying 50 million for David Luiz after he was being touted about for 17 A few months earlier.

Correct. For a guy who’ll more or less guarantee 20+ in that league, that’s a steal in the current market. Not sure why people are implying Chelsea got the better end; I think they’ve been had....again.

Getting rid of a 29 year old striker who doesn't want to play for you anymore for £60m is hardly bad business.

Always wary of spending big on centre forwards at that age. Van Persie gave us one good year, then we had two years of his decline before having to let him leave for next to nothing to clear the wages. I think swapping Morata for Costa at their respective ages is decent.
