Default Wayne rooney must retire TONIGHT

I love a good underdog story, but today confirmed his old legs are simply not obeying commands.

Unlikely he'll play another game for United, or any other professional club. Nobody would have him.

Felt a bit sorry for him.

He's been shite for 2-3 years now. £#%&!ing awful.

Moyes renewing his contract was a disaster.

he does look gone tbf
Pace almost non existent now which is a killer.

Can't fault his effort as always, but there won't be a sudden return to form sadly.

I'd be surprised if we saw him again before the Palace game - at which he will surely get the send off he deserves.

*I'd be happy for a few of our other players to retire tonight though tbh

Has to be his 'West Brom moment' surely? He's had a great career but he just can't carry on at this level. Can't see a future for him beyond China/USA/the queue at Greggs.

£#%&! him. His lack of professionalism has taken its toll and taken a big fat hungover kebab shit all over his legacy. He coasted on his talent while he was youthful only to find that his lifestyle wasn't compatible with sustaining his talents.

Thanks for everything up to about five years ago, but that's hard to remember when you see him wobbling about ineffectually week after week.

Can see Mourinho pulling a Berbatov on him and leaving him off the bench for the final.

Looked like a 50 year old out there today

Bad genes and not looking after himself as he should have as a professional athlete have taken their toll

Long spells without playing can not be helping to be fair. Even in his pomp he needed to play his way into form after a break. He might have enough remaining to have a decent season or 2 at one of the midtable PL clubs.

Might.

Shameless wage rapist but Mourinho deserves equal contempt for picking him.

True.....

He's been out most of this year through injury....
Thought he started brightly today involved in a few chances.

Tired badly though.

nah, you're not allowed to put anything into context.
He's a WAGE THIEF etc...

State of the lads on here getting upset because his body wasn't a yoga temple throughout his career.
He's a scruffy kid from Merseyside who has scored 250+ goals for United.
That'll do for me.
Zlatan can keep flicking scorpion backheels off target whilst giving away freekicks for foot-up till he's 45 for me.
Doesn't make him a better bloke or Footballer.
It takes all sorts.

Not a good sign, is it?

His instincts are still there. Just can't execute anything right.

A hamster will have the same amount of heartbeats as an elephant, they die younger because their little ticker beats faster. Rooney has exhausted all his minutes of football. Michael Carrick is an elephant.

dropped n out of the team way before he got sore ankles.

Can't stand him but for his own sake he should move to a lower league rather than stay in the prem next season. He'll do much better somewhere easier.

I doubt he's up for living in China but America would ok surely ( unless he just wants the most money )

On another day could have had a hattrick. Doesnt help to put him in a game like this lacking match sharpness due to always being on the bench....

Probs shoulda passed to mata for his first chance tho
