If we had bagged one ore two top players each season(2009-2013) instead of trying to do it on the cheap while city and chelski where stockpiling decent players we would not have had to throw money about like confetti(wasting most of it) playing catch up over the last few years

Pretty sure big Mou has spent more on 2 players than LvG spent in his second summer... in fact, take Di Maria out and he spent on a fairly modest fashion, in keeping with the tight purse strings the Glazers insist on..

Romero - free
Darmian - £17m
Blind - £17m
Schweinsteiger - £6m
Falcao - £6m
Schneiderlin - £25m
Herrera - £28m
Shaw - £30m
Depay - £21m
Di Maria - £59m
Rojo - £17m
Martial - £35m

That about it? Reads like a remit to buy young up and comers or cheap options at a good age, marquees or old men on cheap deals... think we're seeing similar now, but the manager wants expensive, established players that don't fit the model in Matic and Perisic, that we know of..

Pretty sure LvG had a good few grumbles about not getting the players he wanted in certain (more expensive) areas.

It all spanks of the club needing greater imagination in their scouting and recruitment policy and more patience, to me.. the last 7 years are the clubs fault. Reluctant to spend in an efficient manner, saving a pound and ending up spending a tenner. £#%&!ing stupid.

Edit: this isn't a defence of LvG, it's comment on United as a club and their present approach.

Exactly this. Standing still in the transfer market for so long, continuing to depend on the top players, who were getting older and older, to drag us through, is exactly what £#%&!ed us.

Coming out of the first transfer window with just a Fellaini sealed our fate.

Selling clubs have had us over a barrel ever since.

Sadly, we need this disgusting freak. Now.

A world class player to compliment Pogba.

Well, i've read into the fact that they haven't signed any more players and the manager is moaning that they haven't signed any more players despite the fact he's asked them to sign more players, to mean that they don't want to sign any more players.

Perhaps they're sick of managers wasting money on mostly shit squad level players since 2008

So they can string us along again all Summer before he re-up's and we miss out on Perisic.

I think Madrid are obsessed with £#%&!ing us over.

De Gea plus cash most likely, united dropping hints all summer, willing to let him leave, madriid not willing to pay the price.

Maybe this - not convinced they actually want Dave all that much, though

All the big dawgs in Europe have stagnated a bit and la liga is a piece of piss. With their attack they don't even need to worry about defending too much, and the defence is pretty decent anyway.

Can't see the club giving this deal the green light tbh. Upwards of £80m for a 28 year old who's had a couple of injury hit seasons, no chance they sign the cheque on this one.

They won't or can't spend £48m on a 29yr old that Jose seems to really want so can't see this happening!
