Weird existence, alright.

A fair bit of isolating themselves from public. Extreme ups and downs, living in a bubble. Then at the end of it all, reality. The dosh would help but....

American sport gives an example of it, I think they're expected to have an earnings career of about 4 years, maximum, on average, and then they descend into bankruptcy etc. Football is similar, nor quite the highs, a longer middle but then the descent..

Institutionalised. So bit like long term prison sentence or the forces or having a severe long term illness?

Had to join a gym 30 minutes away - how does he cope getting there in his £140k Range Rover?

It's as if mental health has just been invented by footballers Collymore, Clarke Carlylse, Aaron Lennon

Life is tough for everyone

Mental health effects everyone, no matter age or wealth...

It wasnt invented by footballers, they are just shining a light on a subject that requires all the exposure it can..
it's one of the biggest killers of men in the uk..

Agree with you Bunks completely - not with the shining light of footballers who lets be right have access to treatment and experts wherever they turn just annoys me th way they talk as if no one else suffers or has a right to

Treatments and help doesn't make a jot of difference to some people though..

Mental health doesn't go easy on you because you used to play with John Barnes,
You don't get admitted to the priory or get given one 2 one help because you were part of the 'crazy gang'

It's a disease that doesn't pick its victim based on anything..

I think it's good footballers are coming out and talking about it.

Not as easy as that. If you're ill you are ill. With nothing to do to fill their time it is harder than us 'normal lot' who have a routine and bills that keep us busy.

Spot on.

I've been to a few conferences on this subject and there is definitely more help out there now.

Some of the stories are heartbreaking.

The more exposure this subjects gets the better.

There's still a massive stigma attached to mental health, and I'd say more so for men than women.

"What have you got to be depressed about? You just need to pull yourself together".

As said to me by a nurse.
