How about the keeper hanging on to the ball beyond 6 seconds? Results in an indirect free kick.

Could that not be classed as time wasting, hence a yellow?

It could be, but I don't think it's automatic?

edit: checked the laws of the game and it just says indirect free kick.

I also noticed that FIFA has an entire paragraph explaining the relevant laws in the event a goalkeeper takes a corner. They are, of course, exactly the same as when any other player takes a corner.

So they could just add 'the above includes goalkeepers' to the other bit.

And?

The laws say nothing about whether or not the ref is forbidden to give a yellow.

And we don't even know if the original question is even valid, do we?

Exactly. They do it for throw-ins and free kicks too.

Imagine if you could get booked for persistently being offside

Inzaghi would never have finished a game.

I've looked into this specific angle - time wasting is considered 'delaying the restart of play.' The ball is in play when the goalkeeper has possession, so by the word of the law, I don't think this can be considered time wasting.

I'll remind you of this the next time a keeper has the ball kicked out of his hands
