Thumbs up Mikel Arteta Arsenal Manager

Arsenal are closing in on appointing Mikel Arteta as their new manager.

Sportsmail understands players have been told that Arteta is 90 per cent certain to replace Arsene Wenger.

Entire backroom staff sacked, including medical people who've been there 20 years.

They are going to be absolutely awful next season. I predict 8th.

Have they learned nothing? Sacking all the backroom staff isn’t going to help #moyeseffect

Brave move, fair play to them. Wish we’d done the same.

It's a weird appointment for me. He's no real management experience.

Perhaps Kroneke and Co think that he will not question their motives and they can just treat him like a push over or something.

He will imo he's ingrained with the arsenal style of football. Will probably turn out a decent appointment.

No one knows do they, he might be an amazing coach & a completely £#%&!ing useless communicator when there's pressure on. He's never had to deal with anything like the sort of scrutiny he'll face next season. I wonder if they'll actually instill a DoF to leave him to just coach. Wenger was like Fergie - huge amount of ownership of football side of things (even though Fergie delegated they all ended up binned as the Arsenal backroom staff have been).

I predict a solid 6th or 7th & a load of cut price promising youngsters getting crushed under the weight of expectation. Plus ça change Arsenal...

Yep

He's been working under Guardiola for the last couple of seasons and can’t see the pressure being anything like what Moyes had (succeeding a successful manager and champions).

Moyes took over Manchester United as champions as well, not £#%&!ing arsenal.

The season where arsenal fans realise wenger wasn’t the problem.

They aren't too far away from having a decent team. Not sure they can realistically do much worse than fighting it out for 6th with Burnley no matter who they bring in (Moyes excluded, obvs).
