Going to shock you here subbers but your comment is naive. The idea that people would have more respect for governments, the vast majority of which are either perpetrating evil or completely indifferent to it, if they just told the truth is demonstrably false. Society has little interest in the uncomfortable trade-off required to maintain order and relative prosperity while people are even less equipped to deal with truth, a glance at the Alder Hey thread should tell you that.

Yes, on reflection maybe you're right Quaydy. Maybe it's not that people aren't smart enough to process the lies and corruption, perhaps it suits them not to.
