Default Juventus 1996 - 1998

Underrated side?

They never seem to get the credit that is lavished on other club sides (I.E. the Barcelona team tonight be branded 'The best club side ever').

Reached 3 consective European cup finals, and the £#%&!ed off some of their best players after the first one.

I remember our early encounters with them, and they never gave us a £#%&!ing sniff.

If we make it to the final this year, should we be lavished with praise. Kind of, but we're not one of the best sides in history. We're not even the best United side of the decade.

If you look through some of the players they had, Vialli, Ravanelli, Del Piero, Vieri, De Livio (he was a beast), Conte, Toricelli, some bloke called Zidane and the performances they put in then you have to rate them.
Personally I think history has judged them harshly because of that awful away kit they had, the blue one with the yellow stars on the shoulders.

Best side i've seen at OT, they have us a real lesson in 1996.

Shit yeah they signed Boksic from Lazio as well didn't they.

They also had a couple of players I never took to. Montero was just a thug, he went for the man more than the ball most of the time, can you imagine the tears if Wenger ever came up against him with his delicate little team of flowers? Also Daniel Fonseca their 3rd choice striker was a joke, ungraceful, ugly and a terrible player.

In 99 they gave us an absolute hiding in that first half. Some finish by Conte too. Always found them a bit all brawn and no nous at the back though....

Ferrara, Montero, Pessotto, Tudor, Iuliano, Birindelli, etc Carvalho would have fitted in nicely the cynical £#%&!er

Didnt that Portuguese guy Paulo Sousa have a season there too, he must have been involved in one of the finals. 97 at Bayerns ground?

Sousa is the only player to win back to back champs leagues at different clubs isn't he?

He was at Juve in 96 and then at Dortmund in 97.

An odd description for me? Wasn't he the little winger who lacked real pace or skill?

I missed the word "think" out.

Also FWIW I lack so much skill on a ball it is untrue but still even know have a decent turn of pace.

First time I've ever heard that one

Re Juventus, it will be noted that they won the first of their finals on penalties, and lost the other two.

IF we get past Bayern tonight and then the S-F, hopefully history won't repeat itself too closely

Wasn't it just the French title and they weren't allowed to play in the CL the next season?

Marseille were eventually found guilty of bribing the Valenciennes players. They were stripped of their French title and relegated. UEFA subsequently denied them the opportunity to defend their European Cup title although their European Cup win still stood.
