like it or not, souness, rush, hansen, lawrenson, beardsley, dalgeish and even barnes were fantastic players with the honours to go with it

Clemence in the 70s was an outstanding keeper. As good as Jennings and better than Shilton IMHO. Shilton just aged a little better.

was a great player.
but liverpool have generally been effective, rather than great. that need not be a criticism - being able to make a team greater than the sum of its part is not to be mocked. but some of their play sucked the joy out of football. |

Didn't Keegan win European player of the year x2 although not whilst with Liverpool he is associated with that club
