Default Fred pays out to deflated Reds fans

The Salford bookie is giving anyone who bet on United winning the title their money back, at a cost of £200,000.
He said: “These loyal fans never had a chance of winning with United. This season the Reds have been useless, hopeless and meaningless.

“Anyone who has a bet on United winning the title need only take their slip to any shop and I will refund every penny.

“One of the reasons I’m doing this is, and becoming the first bookmaker ever to do so, is because of the way the fans were still singing for their team even though we were losing 3-0 to Liverpool. I couldn’t believe it and they deserve a team much better than that put out by David Moyes.

“They deserved a run for their money and they didn’t get it. They never had a chance. United are robbing the fans. The Glazers, some of whom were there at Old Trafford yesterday, need to get their hands in their pockets.

“I’m not the only one saying this but this team is going nowhere. I keep hearing about United being the best team in the world - that’s just wrong.

The most concerning thing is a collective of (i'm assuming uninstitutionalised) lunatics actually wagered £200,000 on Moyes winning the league.

He loves a bit of publicity does Fred. This will almost certainly generate him more media interest than £200k's worth of advertising will get him.

At least it's a little bit more pressure on Moyes and the Glazers though.

The interesting bit of the story was the fact the Glazers were there yesterday.

A few, I expect - we still had a faint chance on NYE (eight points behind)

Then 2014 started with Spurs at home, and the rest is (infamous) history

Most of the money probably went on early in the summer when the Ronaldo rumours were rife - I had £20@5/2
