No doubt VAR would have called Scholes offside in the middle

Never noticed empty seats. Maybe everyone was standing so it looked empty. But was on the front row and didn’t think about looking behind me. If my brother in law hadn’t restrained me you would recognise me from the videos of Giggs being mobbed when he scored.

Mainly arsenal sections iirc.

30,223 attendance, think held 39/40 full capacity (would have lost some for segregation)

Love the bit when Anelka's trotting back to his place grinning all smugly when he thought he'd scored, when in the background it's all ours celebrating the moment when he finds out

Worked with somone who left when they announced that if you stayed for extra time you would miss the last train. His “last train” broke down on the way back and he got back at 4am. By which time we had been home for hours and had re-watched the full game with appropriate glass in hand.

#neverleavebeforetheendreds

Must start new thread on that topic.

Went to the first game - could’ve gone to this for £25, was a poor student though so decided not to.

So easy to forget how good Becks' goal was. Basically hit it like a free kick from open play.

What a player he was

Meanwhile, just watching Giggs jinking in and out without even touching the ball sends me dizzy.

I know it's hard to compare eras, but that Arse team has to be up there amongst the best of our challengers in the Premier League.

Bergkamp got away with some stuff, brilliant, brilliant player, but with a big dose of snide that he never seemed to get pulled for.

Best/favourite game I've ever been to. At full time I knew we'd win the treble. Felt unbeatable. Left the game on such a high I couldn't sleep that night. Watched the full match again when I got home. The quality on the pitch was incredible.

Like everyone else, I was screaming for Giggs to pass.
