Default Sporting deny United deal

Sporting Lisbon have denied that Manchester United have first refusal on Miguel Veloso.
Veloso, who can play in central defence or midfield, is the latest starlet off the Sporting production line to be linked with a move to Old Trafford.
United are very close to Sporting, having signed Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani from them in recent seasons. But a spokesman for the club has denied that Veloso, or any of his team-mates - have been promised to United.

Denial

"Manchester United do not have a preference on him (Veloso) or any other players of Sporting Lisbon," he told skysports.com.
The Under 21 international signed a new deal six-year deal in January of this year - which installed a release clause of 30 million Euros (£20million).
Despite his lengthy deal Veloso has been tipped to leave when the transfer window re-opens - but reports in Portugal are now suggesting that Sporting have agreed with the player that he will not leave until next summer.

Arsenal have also been keeping tabs on Veloso and were reported to be weighing up a move and they look likely, along with United, to be involved if and when the 21-year-old does decide to leave the Jose Alvalade.

Sporting have to tow that line really.

Yeah, we just snubbed Spurs by all accounts

Good job too considering they're going to finish above us.

We've got enough shit players we can slot in without splashing £20 million for another. John O' Shea is shit in midfield and defence for example.

Yeah but who the £#%&! are V. Guumaraes.

The difference between Portugese football and Scottish football is they have a big three instead of a big two that completely dominates a shit league.

True, but he was man of the match against Inter last season and played quite well against United in Lisbon.

Ridiculous. We have one fit midfielder at the moment. There's plenty of room.

He can't play now though can he.

Come next summer, everything will be hunky-dorey in the midfield department.
