Personally I think the Rooney Rule should be brought in.
It's not about black managers not getting a chance at all, but more it's about them not being automatically allocated a seat on the managerial merry-go-round of repetitive failures/journeymen that's telling. If Ince was white he would have got another job somewhere else very quickly (assuming he would have taken it, that is). Of all the owners, directors, ceos, chairmen etc in football (of clubs, sponsors, broadcasters, officials etc) how many of them have worked routinely with black managers in whatever companies they've been part of? These people should be forced to interview black candidates because otherwise it's easy to imagine that deep down they will always think of that little girl in A Time to Kill being black. |
