Montpellier (where I am now) are level with them at the top, they only came up this year so they're all buzzing down here. Beat St. Etienne at the weekend and it kicked off in town

Edit: and Lyon lost 2-0 at home to Sochaux

Lisandro from Porto was one, he's pretty sharp.

Theres an article on the BBC sport website, apparently the Lyon fans already rate Lisandro more than they ever did Benzema, someone from Portugal was saying he's better than Rooney. Not likely but must be a good player.

BBC write up on him here

"Better than Rooney"

Still done well though & at half the price of Benzema they've done well.

Bafetimbi (sp) Gomes cost a few quid, he seem to be doing alright.

Lyon have only won 2 out of 12 fixtures v English clubs.

They're a handy side mind but I can't see them winning tonight. A draw would be good because I don't fancy Liverpool getting anything over there.

Gomis.

Huge reputation at the last World Cup, apparently was right up his own arse (probably even read that on here) but failed miserably. Probably bought him back down to earth. Lots of Drogba-esque comparisons but he's only young & the power isn't quite there yet for my money.

Just read this on Wiki

On 07 October 2009 he collapsed in the training for the game against the Faroe Islands; attempts at resuscitating him by his personal physician were successful.[5].
I like their set-up though, fairly drastic overhaul with Benzema & Juninho gone. They must have had a £#%&!ing stack of cash in the pot after selling Diarra, Benzema, Abidal etc.

I think it's pretty clear they decided Benzema was always going to leave after the World Cup and decided to cash in and have the overhaul now rather than in a years time, following failure to win the league last season.

I admire them for the way they have gone about their business. Decided to cash in, found out where the player wanted to go, sacrificed a few quid to meet the players wishes and got on with re-investing the money. Good stuff.

Lyon must have received more transfer money than any other club in the world over the last 5 years.

Looking forward to seeing Pjanic tonight, I've heard lots of good things about him.
