Damaging the United "Brand"
Before the Summer there were concerns from the club the effects that the G&G protest against the Glazers would effect "the brand Manchester United". This is in relations to potential sponsorships and current club sponsors.
While match day the club are struggling to shift tickets, if the protest is once again to pick up pace do we need to look at the brand United rather than protesting just against the Glazers? Publically attacking the sponsors could cause some issues for the Glazers both now and long term attracting new sponsors. Also isn't there agreements setup with these company's and is there a potential fine in place if the club promotes them in the wrong way damanaging there public image? While it wouldn't be the clubs fault, the simple fact that alot of these sponsors could take a look at the issue with supporters could be a big step. Right now alot of them know they are protected in regards to how they are presented, but we could change that. If you remember the banners against Milan, they had a real coverage all over the world because of the impact it had that game and showed that the protest was picking up pace. Imagine having banners simular but publically damaging AON, Audi, Turkish Airlines etc all of which pay United a good amount of money every year. What your thoughts? |
