the silly bitch hasnt responded to my reply to her tweet.

https://twitter.com/waynesears/statu...69231133749249

Nor has she responded to the many tweets asking her about the Doncaster Belles being binned off in favour of MCFC womens team

as a side note, that lady keeper is the daughter of an ex FC board member

Come off it Dunk

We have the highest revenue of any club in the entire world. The idea we can’t afford to set up a women’s football team is patently ludicrous.

A drain on the resources required to improve the first team ffs

Stadium, training ground whole new set of wages, all having to be paid by the club as it stands, as women's football would bring £#%&! all in. Of course there are huge cost implications and it all draws away from the bottom line, which is where the owners get their monies from. It's pretty simple.

If the owners thought there was money to be made, they'd be all over it.

Why would they need a stadium and training ground ?

We did though, like dunk says we had one when nobody else did. It was losing money hand over fist and the club in their infinite wisdom have decided it's not worth the PR value. I think it's a shame but probably true.

The resources to improve the first team, now that's a whole other argument

Why would they need a stadium and training ground? The wages in women’s football are £#%&! all.

If it brings £#%&! all in how come city have an average attendance of just under 3k?

Nobody is saying it’s a money making venture. But the idea that it would cost so much as to hinder the first team ffs

Utter nonsense. The salaries in women’s football actually can’t exceed 40% of their turnover.

It might well run at a small loss, certainly to start with, but that would more than be outweighed by the social benefits imo.

Remember watching a United Review VHS back in the day where they showed the women's football team at The Cliff. None of the team were lookers, majority of them looked like overweight men to be perfectly honest, unlike today where there are a lot of them which are delightful. Maybe that was why they binned the team off.

Makes you think.

They could use Carrington for training but Old Trafford for matches could cause fixture clashes plus the extra wear and tear of the pitch during the season

So how they look would be one of the selection criteria as well as skill level, endurance and mental attitude ?

Women's Football lost all credibility when Doncaster Belles were relegated in favour of the City Women's team.

Women's Football draws about as many dimes as Jeff Jarrett. ZERO

It all impacts on the club currently, one way or another, unless you set up and entirely separate entity, which would cost and wouldn't make anything like the money required to justify it.

Were they? aren't they the most successful side ever or something daft?

Why would they need to play at Old Trafford? They would just do the same as the reserves do. This area is hardly lacking in stadia capable of holding a few thousand fans max ffs

Not arguing whether it would be socially or morally good, can't see any negatives at all in that sense, and the fact we operate ladies teams up to U17's would imply the club see it as a good thing, just the reasons United won't entertain starting up the adult team; Money.

Only on here could a subject that literally no one cares about divide opinion and cause arguments

But it’s not an excuse, because we of all clubs should be able to afford it?

The women’s team that was canned was costing £60k a year to run ffs.

Now I don’t doubt costs have gone up, but so has interest.
