I'm sure it probably has 'legs' because at least three news sources are reporting pretty much the same thing. But each one is not particularly convincing on it's own.

There's probably something in it, but let's wait for some insight other than a 'source' before we start rushing out to get Tevez 8 on our brand new shirts.
