One miniscule positive is that Mainoo might play a bit.

I’m guessing the fact we were so late in the window meant ETH didn’t have any other choice but go along with the price, if what you say is true. It was either overpay for Antony or sign no one and that’s on the owners/board for leaving it so late.
He will have a total budget to work within. Everybody does . Every single club or even business.

So a potential player purchase accounts for x% of the total budget. Obviously he can say that’s too much for that player - let’s move on to the next target. He’s not setting the price but he’s in the decision making team. Probably/almost definitely has final veto.

Let’s be honest, he’s been a liability this season and if it means Mainoo getting a run then I’m all for it.

He’ll be off in the summer.

Maybe something to the rumours he isn’t happy. Unseen injury, out conveniently until the transfer window.

We've seen this umpteen times.

I like how Fellaini was the exact opposite. Couldn't get rid of him from the team and then managed to get injured every transfer window

the Glazer's sanction their transfer because they know they will help get the club back in the top 4 for a year or two, and keep the revenue flowing.....but their not a long term solution, and are gone pretty quick.

Oddly, I think its better to know we won’t have him for a couple of months, rather than a couple of weeks. Will give the chance for others to get in the team and perform well enough to stay there.

Agreed. We can spend a bit more time sorting out a January loan this time, rather than leaving it to the last minute.
