Wilshere did enough for a point. Decent player. The city links will probably step up again now.

Enjoyable stuff, following the Rooney tribulations from pub player, to non-league through to joint second highest scoring Englishman in just 90ish mins was a rollercoaster.

Two crackers from Wilshere, the second was special tbf.

Lineker, let alone Charlton, never got to play against them or other minnows. In that respect at least, Rooney is lucky.

Any argument about the validity of his scoring record for England is surely rendered null by his scoring record for United. I doubt circumstances will allow him to take that as well but he won't be far off.

Rooney will beat Charlton's record, but RvN and Law are United's greatest goalscorers

Rooney's got 230 in 480 apps for United
Cole 121 in 275
Law got 237 in 400 apps.
Charlton got 249 in 750 odd from midfield
RvN got 150 in 219

Rooney's got 30 in 82 European Cup appearances
Cole got 19 in 49
Law got 14 in 18
Charlton 10 in 28
RvN got 38 in 47

I thought he was further away. He'll be disappointed if he doesn't beat that Clive.

If he doesn't beat it this season we're going to have problems (again).

Taylor 131 in 191.

And who is to say how many more he'd have got.

especially if he played in slippers with a beach ball on manicured lawns against defenders who aren't allowed to tackle
