berbatov on wednesday?

surely got to start against milan? i know he's missed a fair few big games but everything points to him starting:


he's been in great form the last few games

one goal would probably kill the tie off completely (can't see milan getting three at old trafford) and he's created (with antonio) a fair few of our goals recently

milan's team isn't exactly filled with pace and hard tacklers, a two-man midfield with park tucking in should be plenty, and berbatov should get plenty of time on the ball, it looks made for him

even if rooney is fit, he would benefit from somebody supporting him up front

and

the alternative looks like being gibson

I personally think it'd be stupid. Fergie has said that he wants us to get a goal but with Milan needing a 2-0 win, it'd make more sense to defend what we have. I can't see past:

If the team is radically different to that, I would indeed be shocked. It would almost certainly score a goal and I can't see Milan scoring 3.

Definately. His hold-up play will be needed, and Milan will have 3 players high up the pitch a lot of the time so we should go out with Berbs and Rooney.

I would play him against the Scousers aswell. I reckon he could cause havoc against Agger and Kyrgiakos.

I'd be amazed if Fergie played 2 up front when we have a lead.

Your on the money there Bo, outside of the fact that it makes complete sense, waynetta will be getting a 'punishment' dropping (rightly so) and we will drift through on a 1-0.

Very tempting, especially as Berbs is in good form and Nani, going forward at least, didn't do much on Saturday. Valencia and Park both can both narrow the midfield if need be, and Nani would be a good option off the bench in the second half if needed. It's frustrating to be so short on options, though.

If Wayne does play, the boss may feel he needs to lessen his workload too so playing berbs would help with that.

i think it's our best bet.

if hargreaves gets himself fit we'll have some very decent options: giggs back soon enough, carrick to return, diouf an option off the bench, maybe macheda as well. not too bad for the run-in as long as we don't pick up any more injuries.

i noticed obertan wasn't involved last night, might be on the bench tomorrow.

I think Berba will start, but at the expense of Wayne imo who will be on the bench, ready to come on if needed.

Berba will play up top with a MF of either:
Nani - Park - Scholes - Fletch - Valencia
Or what I'd like to see against their left side:
Park - Fletch - Scholes - Valencia - Nani

Berbatov? Why not? Presuming of course we don't actually fancy scoring tomorrow.

If we do, I'd play wayne.
