So the coin toss doesn't present an advantage in that one side has the chance to always be ahead and one is always behind, supposed to even it up..

Yeah I think a study showed that going first is an advantage. They want to eliminate that.

Keep the old system. Just scrap the toss and make the team whose fans are behind the goal go second.

just moves that advantage - if no-one misses then the team going second will always be at sudden death first
