I think it was ordered in a panic when it turned out the opening fixture in the second season was against St. Helens Town away (red/white striped home strip). It's down to the referee on the day, and he was fine about the away strip in the end - so I don't think it was used until over a year later - against Fleetwood Town in the FA Cup (another red/white striped team) - the 'cuddly toy incident' game...

It makes me laugh to hear peoples opinions on FC's revenue making.

People seem to think that somewhere along the line the people involved claimed that they would only sell FairTrade, Handmade in Manchester merchandise and the merchandise (limited to the home shirt, one type of scarf and a keyring as anything else would be "selling out") will have a price limit of 20p and if you ask nicely you will get it for nowt.

I dont remember any such claims from anybody.

I still buy my season ticket because I love the lads on the pitch too much to walk away - I tried to but it wasnt for me.

That doesnt mean that I do not admire and support the ideas and values of FC.

Perhaps everyone just loves to get on the wind up but I cant remember anyone ever saying FC were against all commercialism - surely just against commercialism to a level that has a negative impact on the fans/team. Not creating any revenue would be suicide. FC need to use their large fan base to create the revenue that will help them move up the leagues whilst they have this momentum.

The reds who arent on the wind up sound like city fans sometimes. All the hype and hear-say and made up claims whilst happily and knowingly ignoring facts.

How is the squad shaping up this year; who's moved on and who have they bought?

Gone are Patterson and Rudd to Bradford, Platt to Stalybridge and Josh Howard to New Mills.

Nobody has been bought, we have never bought anybody. A few new players have joined though.

The bookies have us between 8th-10th favourites.

Our manager says we have the smallest budget for wages of any club in our league.

"Bought"

The regular first team players that have moved on are; Rory Patterson (Bradford Park Avenue - same level as FCUM, they won the league we were both in last season, FCUM got promotion via play-offs), and Nicky Platt (Stalybridge Celtic, up one level from FCUM this season (two from last, obv), Conference North).

Nicky was part of the £2639 FCUM Development Fund (basically; the ground fund) Manchester Run 2008 effort - bless him.

Rudd was released and went to Bradford Park Avenue.

Incoming players; Tunji Moses (Remi's son, played for Salford City last season - but, I believe, he's suspended until December ). Carlos Roca (from Altrincham), Kyle Wilson (Birkenhead lad, and a United fan - of Crewe Alex breed, capped 15 times for England under-19s alongside Scott Carson, Anton Ferdinand and Lee Croft etc) - he's 22 now.

James Brackenridge (citeh until he was 16, then Sheffield Wednesday’s youth team).

I'm sure it'll be alright.

Is the rumour that Steve Clarridge is going to sign for them true or have I completely made that up on the basis that I want him to still be playing football?

I have played 5 - aside with Tunji and he's a belting little player but a bit mental. He did try to cripple a couple of FC players when the played Salford the other year iirc.
