If someone parodied Rodgers they couldn't do better than the pearlers he comes out with himself.

Quote:
“When you look at that goal he scored against Manchester City in New York – and the finish – how many times have we seen Messi produce a touch like that?” said Rodgers. “Taking it through bodies when it’s so tight in the box? Raheem’s feet were so soft and his finish was great.

“The great thing with watching him now is that he gets you off your seat. When he gets the ball you think ‘Something could happen here’.
“For teams to have that fear of him as a young player shows his development. There is still work for him to do, but he knows that and is a really good boy who is developing really well tactically and technically. What has been beautiful to watch with Raheem has been his maturity and he’s turning into a beautiful young man, with all the responsibility.

“He’s taking it all in his stride and now he’s in a good place with every part of his game. It’s just about maintaining that commitment to his work. He’s still only 19, but in big games he’s performed and he’s a wonderful talent.”

Tbh that spiel he came out with as Swansea manager after they lost at Sunderland will take some beating.

Still one of the most unbelievable things I have heard any football manager say ever :shakehead:

Alright, that was funny but it was a long time ago. He's now comparing Sterling to Messi and calling him a beautiful young man. Can we focus on that lads?

I wouldn't fancy getting that close to him, he just looks like the sort of chap that has rancid halitosis.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says 19-year-old Raheem Sterling's pre-season form has reminded him of Barcelona great Lionel Messi.
Or even the great Joe Cole...

Can't see that happening considering they have bought half their team, best part of £70m to ensure you win your first game. Must be a value for money champions trophy or something to be had there.

Apparently his priority is a striker despite spending £36m on 4 strikers in the past two years.

What happened to this maturity and responsibility when he decided to father multiple children with multiple girls?

At risk of defending the absurd statement from Rodgers, the events withs kids and women could be considered in his less mature past.
