Oh I was gutted for him too. And we probably would have played a bit better. We'd still have lost though, that was a football lesson Fletcher or no Fletcher.

And did we learn? Did we £#%&!. We still haven't.

I suppose it depends on whether he might have stopped us conceding that stupid early goal or not.......

Doesn't look anything special, but nice to see him getting that chance in a big game, even if it was to do the water carrying stuff. The youngsters in the academy need to see that example of someone being allowed the opportunity in the first team. Need much more of it.

The youngsters also need to fulfill their end of the bargain and prove in the reserves/academy that they're good enough to warrant a place in the first team.

I also think that some people need to stop obsessing over home-grown youth players and get it into their heads that the Class of '92 isn't going to happen again.

It certainly won't happen if they don't get a chance. Just like many of the Co92 wouldn't have made it here if Fergie didn't believe in them. So often with kids it's getting the opportunity at the right time and patience when it's needed. Momentum is important.

If they're talented enough, all you just want is the right attitude from them. Pretty much all of ours that come through have that.

McTommy looks better than Fletcher did at his age nqat. Turned out to be a good un, Fletch... but then again, if Bebe was indulged the way he was, he’d have been better than Ronaldo. Love child.

does he £#%&!! Fletcher was quality even at a young age but he was coming in to one of the best midfield's the game has seen. He used to get a lot of unnecessary grief because people expected him to be as good as scholes and keane right away and also because he was Scottish and was considered "Ferie's love child". United would kill for a young Darren Fletcher now.

Against Sevilla, The Scottish Player left no footprints, exuded no vapour trails. The YouTube highlights reel of his performance would consist solely of him running, set to Enya

And for a player deployed in the very centre of the pitch, The Scottish Player paradoxically did not so much run the game as run after it, run towards it, run around it, his every measured stride simply marking time until the next.

From the start his function was clear: to close down Sevilla’s midfield two of Ever Banega and Steven N’Zonzi, not by hacking them down or committing to the challenge, but simply by being there. He wasn’t really pivotal going forward or going back. In short, he simply was

My arse

He played for five years before he became average

Peaked.

Got sent off when he was needed.

Shit himself.

Luke Chadwick deserved better.

Yeah, because the co92 is the only example of United bringing players through from the youth team.
Having local/homegrown lads pulling on the shirt is something all United fans should be obsessed with.

Perhaps The Scottish Player has fulfilled his end of the bargain. Perhaps he's a hard working lad who's keen to learn & gives everything in Training.
Perhaps it's a refreshing change to coach an unassuming young lad instead of a gaggle of preening instagram c***f***s who can't wait for training to finish so they can rehearse & film a choreographed dance routine in the changing room.

ok, fair dos! ...I did say maybe tbf

General point still stands though. He's obviously a player that Mourinho has been impressed by & so he's giving him a chance.
One of the only positives I can see right now - regardless of whether he's a flair player or not.
