Default Knowing me, Knowing you... Saha.

Announced his retirement. Was mint for us for a season. Ended a bit shit for him, missing the penalty at Celtic Park was a low point. Had everything as a striker though, just maybe not as much self confidence as some others..

He was a £#%&!ing shithouse, completely unreliable, and mentally weak.

But let the revisionism commence.

I'd love to know if how much of it was mentality and how much was injury.

Looked amazing at times but I question whether he was genuinely good enough.

Be honest, how many of us saw the thread and thought we were signing him again?

No revisionism. I agree he was a shithouse, but you can't deny he had talent. Like I said, he was class for a season after Ruud left, and we won the league.

Just not mentally strong enough for United I don't think.

Just never really happened for him.
Always seemed on the periphery of things & obviously his injuries were legendary.

This was a nice goal tbf

Today's his birthday as well. Always liked him, wish he performed more.

Mentioned it before but heard it first hand off several ex-first teamers that he never felt he was fully fit and would cry off at the first opportunity.

Hasn't he more or less admitted it himself?

Fergie said his injuries were all in his head either way it couldnt have done the player any good.

Saw him at close hand playing in Jean Tigana's Fulham side that tore up League 1 (as it was back then) and to this day, it's the best individual performance I've seen in the flesh (yeah, so I don't get to see my team play Barcelona et al on a regular basis. Whatever).

Think you've got a 'players you were wrong about thread on here'. Well I genuinely thought Saha was going to be one of the best strikers on the planet. In fact, the only other time I saw a player and think, £#%&!, this guy is going to be ridiculous, was when I saw Drogba eat Newcastle alive when at Marseilles.

In the end, he was a very good player but can't help feeling he could have been something much more.

More or less it. I thought he was excellent when on song, a real handful, but those performances were few and far between. He was far from shit.
