https://www.theguardian.com/football...-12-in-england

Honestly, what the £#%&!s going on?

Next they’ll be banning punching your opponent off the ball or elbowing the goalie in the face at corners

When I were a lad you headed those caseys with a lace in.....did me no harm3yorkshiremensketch

If it’s causing long term effects then it probably should be banned imo.

It’ll make football loads funnier as well if nobody can head it.

I’m wondering if they can do something in the design of the balls to make them safer to head. They’ve come a long way from the 60s and 70s.

But if there’s evidence for it, then stopping the u12s from heading will be a good thing .

I’m pretty sure it’s after they retire and later on in life where they feel the implications. I always assumed it’s with the older balls that were heavier and the the new ones were fine but I suppose we have to wait and see .

Isn't heading already regulated in training these days? I thought it was

If they're not going to ban it in the game entirely not sure banning it for the kids will help in the longrun. After all it's a skill like anything else in the game

the only people with long term effects were heading soaking heavy leather balls, not super swerving light tango types.

heading is one of the best bits of the game. £#%&! off.

Under 10's coach here, yes, it's banned as a training aid up to 12 years old, if it happens in game it's obviously allowed, but you can't train repetitive heading.....

Not football but I vividly remember a crazy cricket coach we had, Mr Brough, his idea to get used to the ball and not dear it, was to throw the ball high in the air and head it..... guy was nuts...

I headed a medicine ball at school. Looked like Gladstone Small for a few days. Didn't do me any whiskers on kittens.

You know they reckon Tom Finney crossed the old lace up caseball so well l that he made sure you didn't have to head the lace.

The wee man’s team under age team have a no header rule.
But advise how it’s been going, there was a few headed goals last season.

It’s a big thing for kids due to the development of neck muscles and how heavy your nut is. Worse for girls.
