At least LVG chucked him up front where he could inflict less self harm.

He desperately wanted to take over from SAF, that is agreed by multiple sources.

He probably felt personally affronted by who was picked instead, and taking into account the (utterly forseeable) damage they inflicted as well......

From the horse's mouth: -

“I’m not here thinking about my next move because I don’t want to have a next move. I will have a next move if and when Chelsea decides it’s time for that.

“I’m not chasing new experiences, trying to find where I like it more, where I can make new things for my career — no. It’s a completely different perspective.

“I’m here to stay. I belong to Chelsea, Chelsea belong to me."

~Mourinho, 2014

"Every manager in the world looks at Man United as a huge club but I wanted to come to Chelsea,

"And we didn't bring that to the table because we were so open and he (Ferguson) knows so much about myself that he knew that for almost a season, I want to leave Real Madrid and I want to come to Chelsea."

~Mourinho, 2015

Ferguson corroborates the above in his book.

He's here now only because he £#%&!ed up at Chelsea and nearly got the club relegated.

Of course he was going to say those things given he that actually went back to Chelski FFS

Nobody who saw how he behaved at the CL tie at United in 2013 can be in much doubt, however.
