Teddy was also one of the best attacking players in the league at the time.

Lambert

Possibly, although Sheringham had scored just 7 league goals the year before we signed him.

Don't remember the reaction properly, but many wouldn't have been convinced by him replacing Eric were they?

Always feared the day Liverpool would get back into the champions league and start attracting the top, top talent. It's on.

I remember the reaction being "Meh" ....A lot of people were pinning their hopes on Ole as he wasn't the "super sub" back then and was our top goalscorer the season previous.

Iirc Teddy didnt do an awful lot till he came on in the cup final. Even after that he was on the bench in Barcelona. It was the next season when he really stamped his mark on the side.

Still, there's no comparison with Lambert. He's a younger Kevin Phillips.

Teddy and Cole not getting on affected us in a few games in early 98. That draw against Bolton where Sheringham should have passed to him, the cup game at Barnsley where Cole missed a load of chances because he wouldn't pass.

Took a couple of years (and Yorke becoming less effective) for Sheringham to make his true mark. Had a great final season with us.

Except that he was never really a "replacement" for Le Roi (as if anybody could be) Still shite in his first season, though

He's obviously nowhere near top rank but you'd do well to get better backup/3rd choice for £4m. Dzeko - for example - was £27m and got 16 last year.

He'll score 7-11 goals. Someone will spend £10m on a player who scores one.
SIIC Top Reds getting saged out of the park by Blues tbh :shakehead:

Lambert for £4m is an absolute steal when you consider what they need & the fact he'll run through brick walls to play for them & STFU about it as well.

But at his age he will want to playas much as possible and won't be happy being on the bench too much..shades of Asprilla..

Not a chance. He's going to have a chance to play CL football, potentially have a tilt at the league etc.

Asprilla vs Lambert in the temperament stakes

He'll give them something different to what they already have.
Doubt he'll get many games mind.

Whilst I don't think it's a terrible signing as the lad can play football and you can see by looking at him that he's sorted his fitness after having spent an entire career overweight, it isn't the sort of signing that signals an intention to dominate.

Lambert is an ordinary footballer.

Don't care how much he costs, how scouse he is or how old he is.

As a rawker said himself, "are we really paying £35m for lallana and lambert, have we learned nothing from 2011".

They will have ZERO chance of top four if suarez goes, no way they will be able to attract anyone who will match his output. In fact, they should be scared about how Rodgers spends the cash. He has spent over £100m in 2 years and only Sturridge is a nailed on starter, Coutinho has decent potential.

Borini £10m, Allen £15m, Sakho £18m, Mignolet £11m, those pair of mediocre Spanish lads from last summer who have barely had a kick etc....

And the other CB they bought cost £7m and hasn't even been seen wearing their shirt. £7m, just like that. At least Bebe was homeless and we were doing the right thing.
