Default Chance to meet MUST and Keith Harris

Would you be interested in a lunch/seminar on the future ownership of Manchester United, the Red Knight consortium and your role? March 10th, Palace Hotel, Manchester

We're assessing interest in a possible lunch & seminar of the REDS IN BUSINESS group and other interested parties to discuss the future ownership of Manchester United and the possible potential role of "REDS IN BUSINESS" in a Red Knight consortium.

I've picked 10th March as a possible date as it is the day of a home game but certainly we don't want to exclude anyone not attending the match (very much the opposite).

Proposed details:
Time: 12.30pm Weds 10th March (AC Milan(H) in the evening) - those at leisure can network/socialise before and/or after lunch
Location: The Palace Hotel, Manchester (room reserved)
Match: Those attending the AC Milan match in the evening might want to do the boat trip along the ship canal from city centre to OT

The lunch will also serve as a fundraiser for the Manchester United Supporters Trust with all profits from the event donated to MUST. We need to assess potential demand and also interest from sponsors. We are inviting speakers including Richard Hytner (Saatchi & Saatchi Deputy Chairman), Keith Harris (Seymour Pierce), Jim O'Neill (Goldman Sachs) but in reality it is interest from "Reds In Business" that really matters.

Tickets will include a three course lunch in grand surroundings at The 4 star Palace Hotel with 100% of proceeds going to MUST (a non-profit supporters' trust). Price to be confirmed but likely to range between £35 - £60 (discounts for RIB and early registrants).

What do you think? Is this of interest? I'm not sure if seminar is the right description? Ideas and feedback welcome and this won't happen unless there is good support from RIB members.

Again I'll send a surveymonkey poll out by email to assess interest so please make sure we have your email address (connect to me on LinkedIn is simplest way to do this).

Update:

Just a quick note to say this event is going ahead on 10th March. I hope that those who've already posted in this thread will help to promote this event and get the RIB lunch club off to a great start.

More details to follow but essentially this is intended to be the first Reds In Business networking lunch. A bit of business network building, a bit of fun/socialising with other United supporters and a 3 course lunch in the 4 Star Palace Hotel.

I have two confirmed speakers who will be commenting on the current ownership situation at United and the potential for a change of ownership with supporters and "Red Knights" forming a consortium. They will give a short presentation and we can have informal Q&A after lunch for those who can hang around.

Confirmed speakers (all Reds of course):
Andrew Green (Fund Manager, Bramdean Asset Management but better known by many supporters for his "Andersred" blog on MUFC/Glazer finances),
Michael O'Connor (formerly of Deutsche Bank, Polygon, GLG now with Portman Capital Partners LLP)

Awaiting confirmation:
Keith Harris (Seymour Pierce)

Funds raised from this event will be donated to the supporters trust campaign.

Tickets £50 (but most, if not all, can use RIB discount code to give £35 per ticket bargain!)

I'll send code by email so make sure you are connected to me on LinkedIn and/or registered on http://www.redsin.biz

i know i'm coming across as cynical on all this but what i draw out of this is

1. who the £#%&! arranges a meeting for fans during the working day alienating the majority of our support?

2. you have to pay to meet them and find out what they're about?

3. Reds In Business???? so they will involve the fans, providing they have coin to put towards their plan?

my reaction might be a bit ott but i can't help thinking of Harris stupid statement that "getting the money was the easy part"

already met him at The Watershed, Bognor Regis in 1999 when he opened the theatre. Bit of a let down tbh, even if he does carry on the act backstage.

I agree, we should all chip in a few pence to cover it and then nominate a representative? Perhaps send the winner of UFW in?
