This!

Having said that, Mourinho will drop him if he phones in dog shit performances. There'll be none of this, "my captain shall always play" shite

He's got far more room to take him out, too. Rashford developing and obviously Zlatan coming in. I'm expecting another couple of attacking players, too, given that hopefully we'll lose a few. Last year we were over-reliant on Rooney due to numbers in that area.

A season without a striker on the bench pretty much

Could be what Rooney needs, too. His good spell last season came after he was left out at Stoke.

Rooney was 6 for 6 before he got injured and Rashers took over.

Either he'll train/live properly and hit the ground runninng FOR ONCE or he'll be dropped like a sack of shit by Mourinho.

And let's face it, if he ends up playing behind the striker he can only be an improvement over ... whoever the £#%&!.

As I said in the other thread, captaincy doesn't really matter a £#%&! anyway

Think he'll hit the ground running next season.
A fit and in form Rooney will be massive for us next season. Big JoMo saying that he's gonna play him as a '9 or 10' () will be music to Wazza's (spud) ears.

Worked well for him in the past.

I thought Rooney couldn't get in the team now?

No manager would strip Rooney of his captaincy coming into this job ffs.

Once he has some credit in the bank I should think he'll change the captaincy, end of season would be my best guess.

Mou had no choice. To not give Rooney captaincy would be telling the World he isn't really in his plans when it comes to 1st team . I reckon Rooney will be a bench warmer by November & playing in China by January . I hope I am wrong because if he plays well enough to keep ether Martial, Zlatan or Mkhitaryan out , not to mention Rashford, then we will be seeing a Roo renaissance.

It's a bit like a game of chess. Little moves, setting up the finale.

Getting Rooney out of the club will need a great deal of subtlety. Mourinho has laid the groundwork with his "someone" remarks in his first press conference. It puts Rooney (&everyone else) on notice.

Stripping the fat @#%&! of the captaincy would be showing your hand way too early.

It's now up to Rooney to put the shifts in or the benching will begin and his journey towards the exit with them.

Solid management.

Who knows what kind of shady contracts are out there, forcing manager's hands.
I thought jose was wiser.

Moreso given Mourinhos previous attempts to sign Rooney.
