Not sure, but he's getting on a bit, only a year left on his contract, injury record not brilliant. Probably on high wages and they just want to get rid quickly I suppose.

Because money is no object to Madrid this summer and Perez wants to build his own team. The front page of today's Marca has what he expects to be his new first eleven and seven of them are major signings. It carries a quote from Perez saying they must do this summer what it would usually take three years to do. It's probably a case of out of sight, out of mind with Ruud after his injury, so they'll offload him for next to nothing to make way for new players.
