Great player for us at his peak and will no doubt go down as a legend

Rooney from 04-11ish was what made football so exciting, £#%&!ing incredible talent.

We were battering them, and he was like a one man team. Completely head and shoulders above the dross they had playing for them.
Moyesie rolled the dice and gave the lad a cheeky run-out, didn't he.

Seem to remember the Scouse @#%&! hacking down Ronnie near the touchline.

The fact we are pretty much paying him to go says it all. At 31 he should still be worth millions but he has declined massively. Let's have it right, last season he was so poor at the basics. I actually felt sorry for him, imagine how frustrated he will have been knowing how good he was then he had average players taking the ball off him easily and knocking him over as well. It's good for the club that he is moving on. Some great moments from him.

Yep, was right in front of that- he got so much shit from the crowd after that. Boxing Day 2003 iirc? Pretty sure Rooney started and got brought off tho' in that game as looked like he was losing his head a bit

This was the season before. 70th minute, not half time like I thought.

skip to 1hr19m50 secs
82nd minute lovely run and shot.
Tries to take Beckham out around the 84.30 mark

It's the right time and probably the right way for him to leave. Despite frustrations with him in recent years you can never take away how good he was for us over the whole of his career. Good luck Wazza

Good luck to him. Great player for about 8 years. We've done well by him and him by us. His best is obviously behind him and nothing lasts forever.

No chance

They were good, but Rooney was incredible at that age

People saying he's only 31 etc....

He's been playing professional senior football since the age of 16!?! In one of the fastest, toughest leagues around. No way was he going to keep to a high standard until he was 34-35

But that doesn't take away how great he was for us. Breaking scoring records for us and England while winning every club trophy there is just

So did Ryan Giggs, but he prioritised his fitness, acknowledged his weaknesses & mitigated them and then adapted his game to continue into his late 30s.
I think the Rooney fitness thing is overplayed. The issue is more than he's somewhat in denial about shortcomings and won't adapt. Yet, at least. He needs to reinvent himself.

Hopefully this move reignites him. He deserves a good move and to leave on a high. Wish him all the best.

Giggsy's genetics helped him out tbf, far more so than Rooney's.

It's sad. Wish we could sign 18 year old Rooney now we were £#%&!ing lucky to see him throughout his pomp.

More than Flirted with city , and don't forget Chelsea .

Chicken nuggets and 20 BnH a day probably have more to do with it .

Great player 3 years ago . Shame he tarnished his rep by hanging on too long .

Not the best teenager I've ever seen tbh , big norm , giggsy , Owen (spit) all better .

Great player in his pomp and thanks for the memories YSb

2. Chelsea have now surprise surprise, matched United's offer for Lukaku - the club he actually wants to go to.

Another marvellous day. Now, back to watching the Rugby..

That's probably the most embarrassing post you've ever made . Your house must literally stink of piss .
