You can't welcome the huge sponsorship deals, the kit deals and then get all precious when they want to slap their name on the stadium. And the fact of the matter is we're not going to be in the champions league for a fair bit, especially with this clown at the helm, so the club are only doing what's logical by looking for other revenue sources. If we were in the top 4 this season i guarantee you there would be no talk of stadium naming rights. This has all come about because of how absolutely £#%&! we're doing on the pitch - so when the ground sells naming rights to Nike, and it's now called "the nike old trafford stadium" then they can thank Fergie and Moyes and carry on booing planes and happy clapping 20 times. |

it's money for old rope. if it pays off the debt, it's a no-brainer.
however, it won't make up for years of underinvestment; it won't make up for this season (or the last few); and, without the constraints on glazer leeching that the debt guarantees, it is more likely that they will just take more money out of the club into their own greedy pockets than that they will invest properly (and with a new manager). in fact, they will probably pocket the entire £500mio. so no. death to glazer. then we'll talk. |
