Am I alone in thinking that Rio Ferdinand is now probably the best defender in the world?

The fact that he is heads and shoulders above most defenders right now.

Aren't you forgetting Jamie Carragher?

I would class him higher than Nemanja but it's hard to be the world's best defender and the world's saviour at the same time.

I am shocked at how good he has become. Always thought he was overrated at Leeds.

Rio is by a long way the top CB there is right now - and if he put his mind to it he could be even better.

He's almost too good to the point where he can play on auto pilot a lot of the time, his concentration at times is the only real weakness to his game.

However, it appears not everyone is a fan - according to Oliver Holt of the Daily Mirror lately ...

I love Vidic in more ways than one but Rio is on fine form.
