I don't know why but it seems that gaurdiola will quit at the end of the year.
his contract is expiring in the summer as well as joan laporta's. In fact joan laporta has already said they may start looking for a new coach.

very strange...

I hope so, let's face it - if he can't get one, what hope has any other manager got?

it was more the fact of him not wanting one i think. he was thinking about quitting and having time away from the game and plus on the contract hes on now he wouldnt even make it into the top 10 earners in the premier league

Signed

Quote:
Pep Guardiola will end speculation linking him with an imminent move away from the Camp Nou today by announcing that he will renew his contract at Barcelona.
Guardiola had been linked to a move to England with reports that Manchester United were among the clubs interested in his services as they seek a successor to Alex Ferguson.
There have also been suggestions that Arsenal were interested in the Catalan and Guardiola's agent, José María Orobit, claimed to have had contact with six clubs.
But Guardiola, whose current contract expires at the end of the season, is instead understood to have agreed to a one-year extension with Barcelona. The decision will be announced at a press conference at the Camp Nou this afternoon.
While the deal will be put in place, it will however not be formally signed until the summer – when Barcelona's new president is voted in. Joan Laporta has reached the end of his term and elections will be held at the end of the season, or perhaps even before.
Laporta's former vice-president, Sandro Rosell, with whom he dramatically fell out, is the current favourite. Guardiola's continuity is the one issue on which all candidates agree.

1 year extension agreed. Takes him to the end of next season. Unusual that he doesnt want a longer deal

Read somewhere recently that his family and friends are worried he is working himself too hard and his health is suffering, apparently he's a workaholic and gets by on a few hours kip. Sounds like a young Fergie.

Would love it if we got Pep tbh, can't see it though.

Mourinho, Guardiola or Iain Dowie for me.

He's hardly going to quit the Hull job for an assistants role

He's only at Hull til the end of the season.

He wouldn't be assistant manager anyway. He'd be 'Assistant Football Management and Communications Consultant'. The cro-magnon #@&%!.

Agreed.

Although I think the outstanding candidate is Phil Brown, I don't think we're big enough for him though.

Mates with quite a few Barca season ticket holders. Some reckon Guardiola will want to move on to work in another country after another 1 or 2 years at Barca. Could definitely see him coming to us if the timings right. The drive and energy he has put into the Barca team is immense and I'd take him over anyone.

I heard Graham #@&%! Hunter spouting yesterday and he reckons that Guardiola could make such a move "in the near future" but it would be to Arsenal. ()
