Hate to say it but perhaps the real damage done by the Moyes reign was that he signed Rooney, Mata and Fellaini to long term contracts. Mata's a lovely lad, but the fact he's hanging about hoping we will offer him a one-year contract says a bit about his status.
13 league goals from his last 70 odd appearances. Doesn't run the game the way someone with low goals output might either. Could be some debate over whether it's been a truly successful signing. Dunk's absence felt here. |

Never understood why Dunk's stance on Mata generated so much hostility. Nice little player, tidy, good stats but his impact on the game is low. Creatively he just passes the responsibility to someone else and has done throughout his time at Utd.
Mikitaryan takes a lot of criticism for how erratic and careless he can be but at least he will try the difficult pass. Remember that Di Maria cameo against West Brom, Utd lost 1-0, he came on for the last 15 mins and was booed for his terrible delivery? Mata played in that game, did nothing, tried nothing difficult, few noticed. I feel more frustration with that type of performance than with those who give the ball away trying to create. |
