Read his auto, give you a good insight.

Mental springs to mind.

£#%&!in hated Leeds but went here, probably just to piss them off.

Told all the players to throw all their medals in the bin, cos they were cheats

Wasn't keen on the Italians either.

clough. and dammed united wasn't what its cracked uo to be either. just my opinion of course. it was reading the book that led me to rethink clough's reputation. very good manager but he always had the cash to spend, even at these unfashionable clubs.

hugely under-estimated by England in the qualifiers..... Poland had won their home tie 2-0 and had won Olympic Gold in 1972 with virtually the same squad.

i remember the pre match hype ..especially as England had just beaten Austria in a friendly about 7-0 i think it was....they were expecting double figures against Poland....

the whole thing made a huge impression on me at the time.....and it dropped me firmly into the Polish camp...

the rest was history.......

i got chased around school by EVERYBODY..... for a full 3 days afterwards

ever since then it has taught me to be quietly confident and not to shoot my mouth off beforehand......a lesson England still havent learnt

As a manager his antics will never be repeated but the game has moved on. He even banjoed a fan on the pitch a few years ago - erratic but a funny bloke IMHO.

Think him and Taylor were the double act and Taylor didn't get the credit he deserved in the partnership - neither were the same after the divorce.

One of Cloughie's biggest regrets was never making the peace pefore PT kicked the bucket.
